Two photos my hubby grabbed of me and each of my boys after Mother’s Day brunch by the lake.
Who do you think they look like? It’s so hard for me to tell!

And now a quick story of sorts. Have you ever had a guy tell you that you are your most beautiful when you just wake up in the morning? And you totally don’t believe him because, well, really how could that be? Both my boys at different times and several times each have said the same thing to me. My youngest is always telling me, “I like your jammies, Mama.” It’s his way of flattery. And today my oldest said to me, “Mama, I like you best when you have your hair down and jammies on like you just woke up.” And no, neither were trying to get something from me. It makes me wonder if, in fact, guys actually mean it???
Of course my boys mean it [now] and how cool is it that for just a few fleeting years, I, as their mother, get to be the center of their world….the most beautiful (and smartest since they think I know everything – ha!) woman ever to them. It just makes you realize how powerful you are to your kids and to treasure each and every moment.

Every night before bed, we read books together. Preston & Landen each pick out a book and then Mama & Daddy pick out a book that we share. Daddy didn’t make it in this photo because he was hard at work on our kitchen remodel.
(And another example of me using the self-timer.)

As a photographer, you prefer to be behind the camera. As a mother, you are rarely in front of the camera. But that should really change. I want it to change. I want my boys to remember what their mom looked like when they were young. I want them to see us interacting. I want them to see how much I adore them. So tonight it was just me and my oldest so we got out the camera, set the timer and ran!

Our “serious” faces –

This one is totally out of focus, oh well –

Kaia didn’t want to be left out –

And we’re done!

So, I challenge you to do the same with your kiddos! And I am also linking up with Emily at “The Anderson Crew” for her “Embrace the Camera” post.
